I’m Back to Baton Rouge!

Two weeks ago, I spent five days in Baton Rouge on a disaster assessment trip (read my blog about that trip here). Adventures wanted to respond to the record flooding but we needed more information before we could send teams. And now that we have that information…

…we’re going back with teams!

I leave Saturday morning to drive back to Baton Rouge where I will meet up with the trip participants (right now, we have around 7 for the first week, and 5-10 for the second week). We are staying at Healing Place Church, an amazing church that is well-known and respected by the community in Baton Rouge and one of the biggest players in the relief game. They are hospitable, driven, gracious, and a blessing to work with.

Our trips will be a combination of home demolition, home reconstruction, and material distribution (food, water, clothing, etc.). There is a huge need for simple manual labor, and that’s what we want to provide. We want to come with open hands and willing hearts ready to go serve wherever it is needed for whomever wants it.

As I said in my first blog about Baton Rouge, the city is strong and resilient, but they still need infusions of love, energy, and hope. We want to bring these to Baton Rouge; we want to be those kind of people. We want to be voices of encouragement and bringers of peace.

Will you pray that over us and with us? Pray that the Lord’s presence is felt and seen first before our presence is ever felt or seen. Pray that we have words of encouragement, hope, love, and joy. Pray that we are still and hear the Lord’s voice guiding us in what to say, who to seek out, and what work to do.

It’s going to be a great two weeks of sharing and serving. Thanks for providing financially and prayerfully for this ministry at Adventures. This is all done because you have chosen to come alongside the mission of Adventures. I’m grateful for you and your support.
